About 'Whizzer' cone technology

Unlike a tweeter, which moves independently of the woofer, a whizzer-which first appeared in early hi-fi equipment-is a small paper cone fixed to the woofer s center.

As is the case with a coaxial tweeter, both cones move along a common axis, reducing the phasing that can occur between two separate cones when the cabinet is heard from different angles and distances. The result: The combo has a very natural-sounding high end.

While conventional piezo tweeters can sometimes sound "spitty, " with detached, artificial-sounding highs, the EA s top end sounds warm and thick. We played a commercial CD through the iAMP 200 s stereo in and were struck by its clear transparency-it s like a great-sounding home-theater speaker. As such, it might be particularly attractive to players who double on electric and upright.

Euphonic Audio returns to its roots with the introduction of the Wizzy 112 Powered Speaker Cabinet. The WZ-112P features a 12" driver with an integrated Whizzer cone mounted in EA's Transmission Line cabinet. The result is a cabinet that has the old school vibe of the classic bass cabinets of the 60's with the high end accuracy needed for today's live performances and recording studios.

The WZ-112P is designed to have a full bandwidth response that accurately produces every nuance of the player's sound. The Wizzy's 12" loudspeaker is actually a dual-cone device. The 12" driver and Whizzer cone simultaneously produce both low and high frequency signals from a single voice coil. The design of the loudspeaker and transmission line provide a smoother and more extended low frequency output while faithfully reproducing the brilliance of the digital power amp.

The Wizzy Powered Extension Speaker (WZ-112P) shares the same loudspeaker, Transmission Line cabinet and 200 watt, Class D power amp as the the new iAmp 200 Wizzy Combo without the tone shaping section. Each powered speaker has it's own "LINK IN" and "LINK OUT" connectors for connecting as many 200 watt amplifier "blocks" as needed. A standard microphone cable is all that is needed to connect extensions speakers. You can also use the Wizzy Powered Extension Speaker (WZ-112P) with the iAmp 200 Wizzy Combo or with any preamp.
